The annual Santa Scamper will precede the parade at 6:03pm. The Santa Scamper is a 1 mile Run before the Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade to benefit St. Joseph's Food Program.  The Race starts at the corner of State Street & College Avenue and proceeds down College to Drew Street finishing in Jones Park.  No roller blades or pets please. Early Entry Deadline is Tuesday Nov. 15.  For more information or an application, contact Wells Fargo Bank at 118 S. State Street or 920-749-2559 or check the City of Appleton's website.

There will be a Tree Lighting in the City Park immediately following the parade. The event will include performances by the Fox Valleyaires (a men's barbershop chorus), a community sing-along and a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony led by the Parade Marshal, Mr. Perry Kidder. The company Appleton invites the public to attend.

The Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade is the largest nighttime Christmas Parade in Wisconsin, attracting about 50,000 spectators to downtown Appleton. A television audience in excess of 100,000 are expected to watch the event live on WFRV-TV 5, Green Bay, and WJMN-TV 3 in Escanaba, Michigan.  While the parade steps off at 6:20 p.m. downtown on Tuesday the 22nd, the television broadcast will begin at 7 p.m. that evening on WFRV Channel 5 and WJMN Channel 3. The broadcast on the 22nd will be approximately one hour in length, but could possibly run long, so we recommend viewers set their VCR or DVR for longer than one hour.

The parade will be rebroadcast as a 90-minute program on the following dates:
Saturday 11/26, 12pm-1:30pm
Sunday, Christmas Day 12/25, 6-7:30am
